Chicago elevated train tracks over a vibrant neighborhood street

Our story

We believe every neighborhood has a story worth tasting

Our City Food Tours was born from a simple conviction: the best way to understand Chicago is to eat your way through it, block by block, with someone who knows kitchens.

Why we started this

Chicago has a food story that goes way beyond deep dish pizza and hot dogs. We love them, truly, but they're not the whole picture. This city is home to some of the most vibrant immigrant food communities in the country, and for years we watched visitors leave without ever finding any of it.

We built Our City Food Tours to change that. A tour for Chicagoans who think they know their city and want to go deeper. A tour for visitors who want the real thing, not the tourist version. A perfect date night, a solo adventure, or a group outing. Wherever you're coming from, this is Chicago as its people actually eat it.

After years running restaurants, Dave and Megan had built deep relationships across Chicago's culinary communities. Every tour is built on those relationships: six tastings, small groups, and at least one dish that makes you wonder why you haven't been coming here for years.

What we stand for

Neighborhood first

Every tour is designed around a single neighborhood's identity: its history, its immigrant communities, and the food that defines it.

Small groups only

We cap every public tour at 12 guests. You get real access, real conversation, and a guide who can actually answer your questions.

Chef-led, always

Dave and Megan lead every tour personally. You're not getting a script. You're getting two decades of culinary knowledge and genuine relationships with the people who feed this city.

Community over commerce

We don't take commissions from the places we visit. Our recommendations are honest because our reputation depends on them being honest.
